Application Information
The mission of the Allegro Charter School of Music is to produce inspired thinkers and creative members of society through the infusion of music into an academically challenging environment.
Allegro is centered on the importance of creativity in preparing students for life in any area. At Allegro, students are inspired and engaged through the study and performance of music. Allegro’s students will be part of the work force until around 2070. With the rate of change in the global marketplace accelerating at rapid pace, it is impossible to know what challenges these students may face ten years into the future, let alone decades. Allegro will prepare students with both a strong academic skillset and the ability to develop original ideas that have value. An emphasis on creativity will be at the core of the program, using music as a medium for developing each student’s creative abilities, and then extending that creativity into other subject areas.
If you are considering Allegro Charter School of Music for your student for the 2025-2026 school year, below are a few important dates:
Allegro uses CCSD’s School Choice for applications.
School Choice opens on January 14, 2025 and closes on February 21, 2025 at noon.
School Choice application decisions will be released via email and Parent Dashboard on April 25, 2025.
Seat acceptance deadline is April 30th, 2025 at noon.
Admissions Requirements for Allegro Charter School of Music:
Student is applying for 6th-12th grade.
Student resides, or plans to reside, within Charleston County, by July 1, 2025. (Residency will be verified prior to enrollment.)
There are no admissions tests required for enrollment. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of openings in any grade, the student will be added to the waitlist.
No tuition is required. Allegro Charter School of Music is a public charter school.
Application Process:
To apply to Allegro Charter School of Music, please complete an application through CCSD’s School Choice. Applications open online on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 and close on February 21, 2025 at noon.
Students must submit a complete application. Incomplete applications will NOT be accepted.
Applications after the School Choice deadline may be accepted online via email, by mail, or brought to the main office. Applications after the School Choice deadline will be added to the end of the waitlist in the order the applications are received.
Students who are selected for acceptance will be released via email and Parent Dashboard on April 25, 2025.
Students who are selected for the grade indicated on the application must pass the previous grade by the end of the current school year. If the student fails the previous grade they applied for, they will be placed on a waitlist for the repeated grade.
